Knifing is a favourite past time for many Call of Duty fans. It makes for a great last resort weapon as well as adding a real challenge for those that like to do something different in Black Ops 7. But it may be you’ve also not played the franchise in a while and you’re not sure how to use your knife.
While the knife and other melee options aren’t exactly meta weapons, they are effective when used in the right way. So we’ll also look at the best setup for it so you can quickly rank it up.
How To Use Your Knife In Black Ops 7
Your knife has its own dedicated slot in recent Call of Duty games that you can pull out at any time. In older Call of Duty games, every player had a knife and it was only accessible when attempting a melee. During Black Ops 3, melees switched to a two-melee system. To use a knife, you needed to equip it as a secondary.
To pull out your melee weapon in Black Ops 7, you need to use your dedicated melee button which is usually RS/R3/V by default. If you use tactical layout on console, it switches to B/Circle. Hold this button for a second or two and it will bring out your melee weapon.
Alternatively, you can put the Close Shave perk, which is in Perk Slot 2, which will knife enemies when you melee (instead of using the butt of your gun).
The Best Knife Loadout
Wildcard
Perk Greed or Specialist are the best options here, it depends on the scenario of the game.
Melee
Ballistic Knife (or any other melee you may prefer)
Field Upgrade
Active Camo is the best choice for obvious reasons. Mute Field is also a good one as it will make you completely silent.
Tactical
Smoke is probably the best option, purely because it will help you get across the map unseen and block off lines of sight for opponents to mow you down. Otherwise you could look at Stim Shots with the movement speed boost, to help quickly regen health and speed you up to get to places faster. Pinpoint Grenades are also good for getting for visual clarity on enemies, particularly in clustered maps so you know how to approach a situation.
Lethal
Combat Axe
Perks
- Perk 1 – Tac Sprinter
- Perk 2 – Scavenger
- Perk 3 – Bankroll
- Specialist – Enforcer
- Perk Greed – Lightweight, Ghost or Ninja
I would opt for Perk Greed so you can keep your scorestreaks because the Scout Pulse and UAV will be really useful for hunting down enemies. If there are a lot of enemy UAVs, use Ghost, if not use Lightweight. If enemies are hearing you approach too easily, use Ninja.
Some games may get a bit more complicated, particularly if the enemy are very skilled and you need more options to hide – try out the Specialist Wildcard and have your perks setup like this:
- Perk 1 – Ghost
- Perk 2 – Engineer
- Perk 3 – Cold Blooded
- Specialist – Recon
- Bonus Perk 1 – Tracker
- Bonus Perk 2 – Ninja
- Bonus Perk 3 – Tac Sprinter
