Call of Duty transitioned to having featured playlist be the main focal point of the matchmaking experience quite some time ago, dating all the way back to Advanced Warfare.
This shift focused on providing players specific modes and playlists for players to try out and ensure they are populated by placing them first before the traditional game modes.
It provides a great experience for those looking to switch things up and quickly jump into game; particularly with the open matchmaking that features in Black Ops 7.
