Season 3 of Black Ops 7 will bring plenty of new content, which includes a new scorestreak. The Ion Core is a brand new scorestreak arriving in Black Ops 7 and the first of the season. So you may be wondering what does the Ion Core Scorestreak do in Black Ops 7 multiplayer and Zombies?
The BO7 meta will no doubt be impacted by this new scorestreak, and it’s the first new scorestreak since the Lockshot was introduced. Since launch, there has been a lack of new scorestreaks and have largely been filled with carryovers from Black Ops 6.
Here’s a look at this exciting new scorestreak.
What Does The Ion Core Scorestreak Do In Black Ops 7 Multiplayer
In multiplayer, the Ion Core comes as a devastating scorestreak. You’ll earn this scorestreak for reaching 1,175 score. This places it between the War Machine (1150) and the HKDS (1200) – this emphasises its power.
When activated, it creates a sphere of heat distortion that damages any enemies inside its area of effect. It pulses damaging radiation for several seconds before setting the next pulse. It has a mid-sized radius, damaging enemies through walls.
The Ion Core has two Overclock abilities: the Plutonium Core grants a longer duration and an additional radiation pulse. The Chemical Catalyst provides shorter downtime between radiation pulses. So you can choose to have more damage, but longer periods between (meaning enemies can escape easier) or shorter periods between radiation pulses for a more consistent stream or damage that makes it more difficult to escape.
This makes it a perfect objective scorestreak for both offensive and defensive objective capture.
What Does The Ion Core Scorestreak Do In Black Ops 7 Zombies?
The Ion Core is also being added to Call of Duty Zombies.
It doesn’t do anything differently from the Multiplayer version – it still pulses out radiation from small to large areas, making it difficult for Zombies to get to you.
In Zombies, it will cost you 1,500 Salvage and will be great for when you are doing lockdown procedures or need to revive teammates.
