Black Ops is known so well for its incredible Zombies mode. The new Call of Duty will launch later this year, so many want to know what the latest Black Ops 6 leaks are.

Since the Call of Duty Zombies mode debuted in 2008 on World at War, it has spawned a cult fan base that is almost seen as its own game, complete with its own characters and storyline that has spanned across every Treyarch game since being created.

While the Gulf War-themed game has still yet to be officially confirmed, we know quite a lot about this year’s Zombies mode already.

Here’s everything we know about Black Ops 6 Zombies.

Release Date

We’re expecting Zombies to launch on day one of Black Ops 6’s release, which we are anticipating to be in the first week of November.

But, according to Windows Central, Activision and Call of Duty have been discussing a large pre-order early access bonus. Potentially giving players access to Zombies a week early.

This isn’t a new concept for Call of Duty, usually allowing players a chance to play their Campaign a week early, but it has never happened with Zombies. It’s a smart idea to allow players to get a chance to play all their exciting modes rather than ignoring some in favour of others.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Leaks And Details

Setting

The entirety of the Black Ops games resides in one universe and the same characters and themes tend to pop up in each game.

With the last Black Ops game (Black Ops Cold War) taking place in the 80s and the 6 taking place in the 90s, we’ll likely see the story continue on.

Format

Many sources are reporting that the new Zombies game will focus largely on round-based Zombies, once again.

This is the classic format that has found so much success for Zombies.

Insider Gaming reported that the next iteration of Zombies in the Call of Duty will be more of an open-world style campaign.

They describe the system to be “more akin to Far Cry” than anything else.

It will feature vehicles as well as a fast-travel system to get around.

This isn’t too surprising as Treyarch are responsible for Modern Warfare Zombies, which is a bigger version of their original creation – Outbreak. It could be this Far Cry like iteration of Zombies will be MWZ 2 (but more like GWZ) and take place on the new Warzone map that will come with a Gulf War iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone (this rumoured to be Verdansk).

Objective-based maps may also be coming.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Maps

Just when you think the Black Ops 6 Zombies leaks couldn’t get more interesting, it gets better! Code in the game would suggest there are two maps already in the works.

The code names are ‘ZM_Quartz’ and ‘ZM_GUARNET’.

Given this information and the fact we have contradictory information about round-based Zombies vs Open World, it could be that we will get both.

One map may focus on round-based Zombies, while the other focuses on Open World Zombies.

This could indicate that both formats are just as popular as each other. Outbreak was more of an open world format introduced in Cold War, putting Zombies on a larger scale map. Then DMZ was introduced in MW2, before the two were combined to create Modern Warfare Zombies.

It could also be that they are both round-based maps and one features as a slightly later launched map/DLC map.

Some games have launched with more than one map before – in Black Ops 1 we had Kino Der Toten and Five from launch.

In Black Ops 2, we had Tranzit at launch and those that purchased the Hardened, Care Package, or Digital Deluxe editions got the Nuketown Zombies map. By December 2021, anyone else could get it by purchasing the Season Pass and then it was made available for purchase by itself.

With Black Ops 3, we were given Shadows of Evil and the Giant could be obtained from a special Collector Edition of the game, but was also made accessible to Season Pass owners and could be purchased individually.

Black Ops 4 broke this tradition by including three maps, all on disc, including  Voyage of Despair, IX and Blood of the Dead.

Then Cold War changed things by only launching with one map, likely due to the development issues Call of Duty as a whole had during that period.

ZM_Quartz

This map will reportedly feature a ship featuring a canon trap. It creates the impression this may be a Pirate ship

There also appears to be an Elevator that will take you to a Cell Block and a Laboratory.

It’s theorised this could be located on the map that Dr Peck points at during the ending cutscene of the Forsaken map’s Easter Egg.

It may also be the location of where the Strike Team from Cold War were sent.

Is this Terminus Island?

ZM_Garnet

This map will have a mainline Easter Egg, Wonder Weapon Easter Egg quest and a jump-scare Easter Egg.

In terms of environment, we know it has a bank and a church. There are a lot of Tranzit like details described with this map.

A lot of details on Black Ops 6 Zombies maps were highlighted in MrDalekJD’s recent YouTube video.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Weapons

Three Wonder Weapons have been referenced that could return.

The first is the Ray Gun, which isn’t a surprise as it is the original Wonder Weapon and is still appearing in Call of Duty today. The Wunderwaffe is also set to return and is, likewise, appearing in games today.

The other is the Jet Gun, a Wonder Weapon found only in Tranzit. It means that ZM_Garnet could be a Tranzit remake, it could be the infamous Route B or a map that is largely based on Tranzit’s aesthetics.

Will the Jet Gun return?

Code in MW3 suggest a ‘bubbling up’ Wonder weapon could also arrive, similar to the KT-4 Wonder Weapon.

Enemies

Outside of the standard Zombies, there are likely to be a lot of familiar ones returning in the game.

A new tentacle dog zombies is rumoured to arrive.

Features

Returning

As expected, the Mystery Box, Pack-A-Punch and perks will be returning.

We’re even seeing the Black Ops Cold War armor system return and the ability to craft items.

MWZ’s Aether Extractor contract and the Reward Rift will return.

New

Gobblegums will be returning in spirit, as a similar system will return.

While it’s not actually the Gobblegums themselves, a consumable type system will be featuring.

An Arrow Trap and Defend Turret will be added in the round-based zombies.
