Last year’s Call of Duty game is seeing a resurgence after what many believe to be a disappointing installment this year. So like those, you may be looking for the best controller settings for Black Ops 6.
Last year’s title has very very similar setting options, meaning you should be able to get right into the groove.
Here are our recommended Controller Settings for the best aim and experience in Black Ops 6.
Best Controller Settings For Black Ops 6
Here are our recommended settings, if anything isn’t mentioned, leave it on the default setting.
Controller Inputs
- Button Layout
- Custom (Tactical Layout – B = Melee, Right Stick = Crouch/Slide)
- Stick Layout
- Default
Tactical is the best layout as you can drop shot with your right-thumb stick without accidentally meleeing. If your controller has back paddles, you can utilise these for melee attacks.
- Horizontal Stick Sensitivity
- 1.30
- Vertical Stick Sensitivity
- 1.25
Sensitivity is very subjective and will depend on your own personal preference.
If you’re a bit more passive and play slower, like me, or value your accuracy over anything else, 1.20-1.30 for Vertical and Horizontal is a good point to go.
In my experience, I feel the optimal Sensitivity for someone who likes to rush around the map and can swing their aim around on the spot quickly will benefit from a Sensitivity in the 1.50-1.60 range for Vertical and Horizontal.
This kind of range gives you the ability to have a flexible and quick aim without it being out of control. It also allows you to accurately take on fights at range.

General Aiming
- Sensitivity Multiplier
- Ground Vehicles

- Air Scorestreak

- ADS Sense Multiplier (Focus)

- Ground Vehicles
- Look Inversion (On Foot)
- Standard
- Aiming Advanced Settings
- Look Inversion
- Ground Vehicles
- Standard
- Air Vehicles
- Standard
- Ground Vehicles
- Look Inversion
These options are pretty subject to the person’s preference, particularly when it comes to look inversion, so I wouldn’t mess with these too much as it makes a minimal difference.
Aiming Aim Assist
- ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing
- Gradual
- Aim Response Curve Type
- Dynamic
- Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom
- ON
- Low Zoom
- 1
- 2-3x Zoom
- 1
- 4-5x Zoom
- 1.15
- 6-7x Zoom
- 1.15
- 8-9x Zoom
- 1.15
- High Zoom
- 1.30
- Low Zoom
- ON
When it comes to the Transition timing, you want it to be instant, you don’t want you sensitivity to change as you’re scoping in and out over time as it can create inconsistencies with your aim. The more consistency you can add to your settings the better the results.
I have always been a fan of the Liner Aim Response Curve type as I know that my aim will match my aim rate, creating a more flat response. It means when I am aiming I know I have to use a consistent amount of force on the sticks.
If you prefer a quicker response that slows down go with Dynamic – this is particularly good for faster and aggressive players who need to snap to targets quickly.
If you prefer a slower response that speeds up, go with Standard – this is particularly good for slower more passive players who need more time to aim. It’s also a solid option if you’re unsure what to go with.
With the custom zooms, it will require tweaking to suit you as there’s a large range to work with, I’ve tried not to mess with it too much, but tweaked it enough to give me more flexibility with a scope without completely dismantling my natural aim sensitivity.

When it comes to slide and sprint behaviour, I found myself getting into trouble with sliding and diving being on the same stick (as I play on a tactical layout). Switching to Hybrid made it much easier to differentiate the two.
With Hybrid, you slide by tapping the right stick in, but to Dive you click both sticks inwards.
