Modern Warfare 3 is entering its later stages as Season 6 is in full swing. Having the best controller settings for MW3 is integral to dominating lobbies.

With the correct settings, you’ll get smooth and accurate aim while your opponents struggle to keep up.

If you’re jumping into a new game mode or playlist you want to have the best options for it.

Here are our recommended Controller Settings for the best aim in MW3.

Best Controller Settings For MW3

Here are our recommended settings, if anything isn’t mentioned, leave it on the default setting.

Button Layout

Tactical is the best layout as you can drop shot with your right-thumb stick without accidentally meleeing. If your controller has back paddles, you can utilise these for melee attacks.

Sensitivity

Sensitivity is very subjective and will depend on your own personal preference.

For me, I feel the optimal Sensitivity for someone who likes to rush around the map and can swing their aim around on the spot quickly will benefit from a Sensitivity in the 6-7 range for Vertical and Horizontal.

If you’re a bit more passive and play slower or value your accuracy over anything else, 3-4 for Vertical and Horizontal is a good point to go.

I tend to have my horizontal sensitivity higher than vertical as I’ll find I turn my horizontal axis far more than vertical, so I don’t need to move my controller up or down very quickly.

ADS Multipliers

I think it’s safe to keep these at 1 to avoid any confusing aspects, there’s certainly a danger in over-tweaking your sensitivity and settings.

ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing

I find this useful to be set to instant as it will give you a much stickier aim earlier when transitioning to aiming down sights.

If you have it progressive, it can really start to throw off your aim.

Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom

If you want to mess with these sensitivities, I think it can certainly help, particularly on lower sensitivity.

I recommend changing it for anything over 6x zoom and I recommend only increasing it slightly so it’s not totally different from your regular sensitivity.

I increase the zoom by 0.05-0.10 per extra zoom.

Aim Response Curve Type

I set this to Linear for a more consistent response when aiming and I think it makes for a much more consistent aim and aim assist results compared to the Standard and Dynamic curves.

Aim Assist Type

For me, the Focusing Aim Assist type is the best option.

If you’ve got a good snappy aim naturally, Focusing tends to be the best to correct any margins for error.

It’s also the best for snappy aims as the fast movement can sometimes cause for over manual correction, which this tends to eliminate.

Black Ops games are known for their excessively strong aim assist types and tend to be games that have the most forgiving aim correction. While I’d say this was the best Aim Assist type early in the game, it seems to be far less forgiving. However it’s a strong partner when used with the Linear Response Curve Type.
