Black Ops Royale is delivering what players have been asking for, which is an old-school battle royale experience in Call of Duty Warzone. It retains some core features from the original Warzone modes while restructuring them. So you may be curious just how do Armor Vests work in Black Ops Royale and how to use them.
Season 2 Reloaded of Black Ops 7 will implement the new mode and it will come as a shock to most Warzone players who never experienced the original Blackout mode back in the day. It’s the first time Warzone has really shaken up the format since it launched, and it was arguably in desperate need, as fatigue sets in after 6 years of the same recycled formula.
While there is so much inside of Warzone, this mode strips it back a bit and makes it easier to understand. So let’s dive into the perk system and how it all works.
How To Get Perks In Black Ops Royale And How To Use Them
Armour plates remain, but the way they are utilised has changed. In Blackout, players had to loot for Armor Vests, which came in three tiers.
Tier 1 would allow you to equip one Armor plate. Tier 2 would allow a second plate and Tier 3 would extend this to three. These can be found and equipped in any order while looting, but you can’t go down a tier, only up – you also can’t upgrade them.
Naturally, the more armor you have the more damage mitigation you get. So getting the highest tier possible, will give you the best chance of success. If you don’t have any plates equipped while in possession of a vest, it will not mitigate damage.

Tier 1 vests are uncommon loot, they are easily accessible and provide moderate damage mitigation from all forms of damage.
Tier 2 vests provide even greater protection and are Rare loot. You can also get them from completing the Strongbox Crack.
Finally, Tier 3 provides optimal mitigation, found as very rare ground loot and for completing the Cradle Breach activity.
You can also get an Armor satchel, which allows you to carry additional armour plates.
