If you’ve hit the level cap and you’re wondering what to do next, you may be thinking about prestiging. Whether you are a veteran of the franchise or a newcomer trying to figure out why everyone is obsessed with resetting their progress, knowing how to Prestige and Prestige Weapons in Black Ops 7 is essential if you want to continue the grind.
The BO7 meta evolves all of the time and being able to unlock essential attachments is what keeps you in the mix with the big dogs. This is particularly true if the crucial attachments for your chosen loadout are locked behind Prestiging.
It’s also worth mentioning that tons of cosmetics and even challenges are locked away behind the Prestige system. So lets show you what Prestiging is and how it all works.
What Is ‘Prestige’ in Call of Duty?
The Prestige system is a cornerstone of the Call of Duty identity, dating back to 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Originally, it was a simple system. You hit prestige, your level and weapon unlocks get reset back to level 1.
Why would you do this? For the “Prestige” of showing your dedication to the grind and for replayability. It was a good way to mix up your experience and try out weapons and loadout combinations rather than stick with the same things.
In later Call of Duty games, you even were rewarded. The first instance of rewards was in World At War, where you could unlock extra custom class slots – which was a big deal back then as you were limited to just 5 by default. More rewards would be added later such as Emblems, Calling Cards, XP rewards and even the ability to completely reset your stats.
A new Seasonal level system was introduced inModern Warfare 2019, before reverting to the classic Prestige system in Black Ops 6.
Weapon Prestige arrived later, notably finding its footing in Black Ops 3. It allowed players to reset their weapon level to add Clan Tags or Emblems directly onto the gun. This has returned in Black Ops 7, now giving players unique attachments and camos for progressing through it.
How To Prestige In Black Ops 7
In Black Ops 7, once you hit the maximum rank (level 55), you stop earning standard XP toward your level and the Prestige options opens up.
To enter Prestige, do the following:
- Navigate to the Career tab from the main Multiplayer menu.
- Select Progression and look for the Prestige Hub.
- Click Enter Prestige.
This will reset you back to rank 1 and all of your unlocks will be locked away; meaning you’ll need to rank up and unlock them again. Your weapon levels will remain as they are however.
A small bonus this time is that you’ll get one free unlock reward to use on anything you like in the regular loadout system (not your weapons). So you can instantly unlock any perk, weapon, equipment, field upgrade, wildcard you want. If you have any blueprints, you will not need to use the unlock reward on the weapon as this automatically permanently unlocks the weapon for you.
Prestige Master In Black Ops 7
To reach Prestige Master, you need to progress through all 10 prestiges and hit level 55. Once you max out at Prestige 10 level 55, you will automatically be entered into Prestige Master.
Prestige Master unlock an additional 945 levels (maxing out at level 1000). Levels at this stage have a flat XP rate, needing 50,000 XP to level up.
How To Prestige Weapons In Black Ops 7
As mentioned, you can prestige your weapons once you reach its maximum level.
To do it, you need to do the following:
- Go to the Weapons menu
- Enter the Loadouts tab.
- Find the weapon you want to prestige, it should say ‘Max’ on the weapon level rather than a number.
- Hold ‘Y’ or Triangle on it to enter the Prestige menu
- Hold ‘A’ or ‘X’ to enter weapon prestige
You can do this twice. Once you hit the level’s maximum level cap on the second time round, you’ll enter Weapon Prestige Master and can rank that weapon up to level 250.
